Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Wilder

The striker has joined Sheffield United only half a year after leading insulting chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a agreement joining the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year time at Elland Road concluded through agreement in August.

One of the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading insulting songs regarding Chris Wilder during the club’s success festivities in April. Currently, the former England player will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue his beloved club out of the drop zone.

Previous History Involving the Striker & the Manager

Both men had a past prior to Leeds moved up back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

All appears has been resolved with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his playing days.

The Wilder chant went viral this spring. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I have no problem at all with it. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel as well and had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we used to give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
